summaryThe human cerebellum is engaged by a wide range of daily tasks, from pouring a glass of wine to controlling our emotional responses. Nevertheless, it is typically understudied in neuroscience, because of its position at the base of the skull and its intricate anatomical structure. In this talk, I will present the use of 7TMRI for high-resolution structural and functional imaging of the human cerebellum in health and disease. The high spatial resolution required to resolve the cerebellar cortex necessitates the use of motion correction, for which both prospective and retrospective options exist. The functional map of the cerebellum, including multiple somato topically organized body representations, can also be studied using 7T, and I will present several studies in which spatial resolution is essential to disentangle the cerebellar functional responses.
