summaryOur perceptions of space and time are thought to be separate attributes of sensory experience, which themselves are separate from the perception of image motion. Recently our view of the visual brain as specialised and compartmentalised into anatomically separate processing modules has been supplemented by an interest in how these modules are incorporated at the systems level to perform visual tasks. This course will examine human visual motion processing, the influence of motion on the apparent spatial location of moving objects and on the apparent timing of visual events. We will also discuss recently discovered effects of motion and saccadic eye movements on apparent duration and on the temporal ordering of visual events.
