| summary | Perceiving generally veridical 3-D shapes from 2-D monocular images is one of the remarkable feats of the human brain. Estimation of the extra dimension is based on perceptual assumptions driven by image cues. I will use an example each of 3-D perception from contour, texture, and motion cues, to provoke questions about differences in the properties of perceptual assumptions driven by different cues, and the processes of choosing between competing perceptual assumptions driven by the same cues. |
