summaryBilingual speakers have to learn to control their two languages in order to achieve successful communication. In any given conversation, these speakers have to focus on one language while ignoring the representations of their other language that may act as possible competitors. Thus, a main issue in bilingual language production refers to the attentional mechanisms that allow bilingual speakers to control their lexicalization process. In this talk, I will discuss the most relevant proposals on this issue and I will present some experiments aiming at adjudicating between these proposals.
