| summary | Computer simulators have replaced laboratory experiments in the study of many complex processes. The major improvements in computing power have made this a cost-effective experimental technology. Computer experiments typically involve complex systems with numerous input variables. Computer experiments are deterministic: replicate observations from running the code with the same inputs will be identical. As such, standard approaches to the design and analysis of experiments are not necessarily appropriate for computer experiments. The goal of this seminar is to introduce the subject and to review recent results and challenging open problems. |
