summaryThis talk will review the role of attention in inducing rapid plasticity in auditory cortical STRFs that reflect task performance and objectives as an animal learns to perform auditory discrimination tasks. I shall also describe the dependence of responses in cortical frontalareas on behavioral task rules and stimulus meanings, and the relevance of all this to auditory scene analysis and perception of auditory "objects".
