| summary | The talk will briefly review the operationalization of Newell's notion of the knowledge level, and its impact on knowledge acquisition research. More recently, the notion of ontologies has also changed the way knowledge-based systems are being built. Are we taking advantage of these results when building CBR systems? The talk will combine a general discussion of this issue with examples from the recent development of a CBR system for decision support in oil well drilling. |
