| summary | I will respond to some recent criticisms of interaction theory (IT) and clarify what I take to be the nature of perception in the context of social cognition. Carruthers (2009), Currie (2008), Herschbach (2008), De Jaegher and Di Paolo (2008), raise a number of diverse objections to the IT account. For example, IT focuses on precursors to mindreading and cannot account for the advanced theory of mind; or it depends too much on perception, but fails to give a good account of perception; or that it doesn't depend enough on interaction and fails to give a good account of interaction. I'll respond to these criticisms and review different accounts of "direct" perception. |
