summaryThe very definition of biomimetics involves thorough understanding of the biological model as well as technological application/validation of the found results. This type of research is highly multi-disciplinary and requires scientific disciplines to meet and to co-operate. In my presentation, I will show three examples of biomimetic projects where fundamental and application oriented research met in a fruitful way. 1) Attachment in jumping spiders and potential application to maintenance robots 2) Odometry in desert ants as a model for legged robots 3) Insect optic flow processing for alternative Lunar landing concepts.
