| summary | Agents with general intelligence are able to adapt fully automatically to previously unknown situations. This principle is currently being applied in Computer Game Playing with the advent of systems that understand the rules of new games and learn to play them well without human intervention.
In this talk I will advocate General Artificial Intelligence as a grand challenge, giving us a new research agenda where the focus lies on combining existing AI theories and methodologies. I will exemplify this with new results on the integration of action formalisms with agent programming languages and default reasoning, and I will show how we have successfully combined a number of diverse AI techniques in our
award-winning, knowledge-based General Game Player. |
