| summary | We present preliminary results obtained from the analysis of intracranial Stereo-EEG recordings (SEEG) in 4 patients with Taylor-type cortical dysplasia (FCD II). We applied multivariate autoregressive models to estimate the partial directed coherence (PDC) and to evaluate and compare the direction of information flow in interictal and ictal SEEG recordings.
Our data indicate that during seizures there is an increase of synchronization in almost all frequency bands with respect to that observed during the interictal state. This increase involves the intra- and peri-lesional recording sites, but not those spatially far from the FCD. Results support the hypothesis of functional changes occurring during epileptic seizures in FCD, and the apparent key role of the peri-lesional region in propagating the epileptic activity to the different brain areas. |
