| summary | Traditionally, processes of perception, action, and cognition have been studied in individuals isolated in "experimental quarantine". However, there is increasing evidence that these processes are fundamentally shaped by social interaction. This talk will review recent studies demonstrating effects of acting together on the way we integrate multisensory information, the way we plan and control our actions, and the way we remember. Together, these studies indicate that people have a strong tendency to form detailed representations of each other's tasks. The role of interpersonal relations as well as relations between groups of individuals will be discussed. |
