summarySpoken communication provides a unique manifestation of human multisensory processing because the correlates of speech are available to the auditory and the visual systems. I am interested in addressing how these auditory and visual speech signals are integrated during perception, and in particular, how this multisensory processes take place when dealing with speech input in a second language. I will present evidence from several studies with adults and infants revealing the potential benefits and limitations of multisensory integration when parsing speech input in non-native languages. I will also present some findings about the potential neural correlates underlying these benefits.
