summaryFear and extinction of fear are executed via changes in the interaction between the amygdala and the medial prefrontal cortex. In my laboratory we use multidisciplinary approach to study the interaction between these two structures and in this lecture I will present data about the mechanisms of interaction under normal and stressful conditions. Furthermore, we have recent data showing the role of this circuit in the regulation of fear and extinction of fear. I will also present recent and preliminary data showing different mechanisms of plasticity in the post weanling animal as compared to the adult animal.
