summaryThe role of the hippocampal formation (HPC) in spatial memory is well known. With the use of different approaches in mice (Fluoro-Gold tracing, pharmacological treatment and learning and memory tests) we demonstrate that the HPC/ventral striatal pathway is required for consolidation of spatial memory and learning-induced neuronal plasticity in the ventral striatum.
