summaryWe present in this seminar our recent studies on the visual and brain process in Octodon degus, a natural rodent model of neurodegeneration. The degus brain during aging accumulates the key hallmark of Alzheimer diseases (AD), which correlate with loss of cognitive functions. More recently we found that the degus retina also shows a degenerative process similar to AD and together with a deterioration of their visual function.
