| summary | Several cortical motor areas are at the origin of the primate corticospinal tract (CST). The CST provides (among other functions) critical input for the control of upper limb motoneurons. However, the contribution of each of these areas to the CST is still debated : anatomical data provide one set of clues, physiological data another. I will present physiological data from the behaving or anesthetized primate that will provide insight into the relative contribution and interaction between two of these motor areas : the premotor and primary motor cortex. |
