summaryWe have performed 2-photon GCaMP6 imaging of spontaneous neural activity in larval zebrafish tectum at multiple stages of early development. Using recently developed methods from graph theory we find changes in the functional architecture of the tectum over development, and identify 5 days post fertilization as a critical developmental stage. By manipulating visual experience, we show that this development is sensitive to the structure of the visual input.
