| summary | I will present an overview of our recent work on fluid-structure interaction problems applied to bio-inspired swimming and flying. I will present our experimental models of flapping-wing flyers and undulatory swimmers which we have used to study a few of the basic questions related to bio-locomotion. In particular, the role of flexibility of the propulsive appendages in the performance of flyers and swimmers and the non-trivial question of drag for a deformable swimming body. |
