| summary | In natural environments inputs of different sensory modalities convey both complementary and redundant information about the environment. Recent research has shown that perception and cognitive processing are shaped by crossmodal inputs. The integration of multiple sensory inputs requires large-scale cortical interactions between distant cortical areas processing the different sensory inputs. In this lecture I will focus on the possible neuronal mechanisms underlying multisensory interactions. |
