summaryDual-process models of intuitive vs. reflective thinking have been applied to a broad range of high-level cognitive activities such as reasoning, decision making, and moral judgment. In parallel, there is a growing interest in comparing individual and group performance in these domains. The experiments I will present draw on these two lines of research, by investigating whether and when social networks can promote intuitive or reflective thinking. Small-scale social networks were created in a laboratory environment, and individuals in these networks engaged in reasoning or moral judgment tasks, while being able to observe the responses of their neighbors in the network. The results of these experiments provide nuanced insights on the deployment of reflection across social networks.
