| summary | The seminar will review the concept of "social action" introduced by Max Weber. A quantitative framework based on statistical physics ideas will be introduced with the purpose to identify social action from rich databases on human behaviour of large groups. The relation with the Mc Fadden discrete choice theory, widely used in economics, will be discussed. Two case studies will be illustrated on immigration data and integration quantifiers in Spain and Italy. Some consequences on the social network of trust will be derived. |
