summaryThe cerebral microvascular system is essential to a large variety of physiological processes in the brain, including blood delivery and blood flow regulation as a function of neuronal activity (neuro-vascular coupling). Recent studies in humans suggested it is also involved in the onset an progression of Alzheimer’s disease. Here, we show that capillary occlusions due to neutrophils is responsible for a significant blood flow reduction early in the disease.
