| summary | Keeping track of moving objects with thehand and/or the eyes, as well as accurate eye-hand coordination is critical foreveryday activities. During my presentation I will present a series of studies thatfocus on the adaptation of eye-hand coordination during two types of trackingtask. In the former task, we tested the ability of participants to track withtheir eyes a visual target that was moved by their hand using random motion. Inthe second one, we tested the ability of participants to move a cursor withtheir hand so as to track a visual target following a smooth but unpredictabletrajectory. In both cases, I will address the adaptability of eye-handcoordination when the relation between hand movements and their visualconsequences is unexpectedly altered (for instance by a visuomotor rotation),as well as the possibility of a transfer of adaptation between these two tasks. If time allows, the contribution of haptic feedback and the role of the primarymotor cortex (M1) will also be addressed. |
