| summary | My presentation will be divided in two parts. Since I'm newly arrived at the lab, in the first part I'll give a general overview of my research interests and of the topics I am, or have been, curious about. In the second part, I'll talk about a more specific topic: the difficulties involved in generalizing classical quantificational analyses of modal clauses to disposition ascriptions like "x is fragile". I'll state the problem, describe a recently proposed attempt to solve it, share my reservations about the recently proposed solution, and sketch (what I think is) a more promising way of addressing the issue. |
