| summary | During embryogenesis, neurons from different brain regions are born at different times but how temporally staggered developmental programs are molecularly encoded in progenitors, and whether and how time of birth relates to connectivity remains unknown. Here, I will present recent data from my laboratory addressing brain-wide transcriptional programs that control neuronal properties across brain regions during development.
