summaryKorta & Perry’s and Hanks’ frameworks have some points in common: utterances as truth-bearers, propositions as classificatory tools of “information-carrying events,” and, at the center of a range of types that may classify a given speech act, the referential content. But there are also important differences: Korta & Perry extend the range of propositions by unloading contextual information from the referential content in order to explain the plan of action of a speaker, while Hanks enriches the content to explain metarepresentational speech acts. Following the works of Pickering & Garrod and Enfield, I will suggest a couple of extensions of Korta & Perry’s framework, adding different kinds of referential contents, in order cover more broadly the dynamics of conversations. One of the things that we will be able to do is to have also richer contents in account of a conversation.
