| summary | How can epidemiology inform the next generation of nutritional psychiatry? This seminar will present evidence linking nutrition to mental health, from pioneering work on dietary patterns and depression to studies on specific food groups and findings from the Global Burden of Disease, Lifestyle And Mental Disorders (GLAD) project. It will also cover recent research on ultra-processed food consumption and postpartum depression, and introduce emerging work on chrononutrition and circadian health. The seminar will conclude by discussing future directions that integrate epidemiology with biomarker discovery, intervention studies, and mechanistic research, including the gut microbiome, inflammation, and extracellular vesicles, to advance precision prevention of mental disorders. |
