summaryTechnological advancements, both within educational environments and outside of them, have given rise to many emerging digitized interventions for reading. One such forms are interventions which focus on executive functions given their role in successful reading. A child-friendly video game that we designed will be introduced as well as its positive impact on reading skills in Italian children. Putting back this work in the larger existing literature, I will present two meta-analytic works reviewing the impact of such technology-based approaches, whether targeting language skills or domain general one, first as applied to all children in the classroom as our Italian study did and second as applied exclusively to children with poor reading skills. This new work highlights a more promising outcome for poor readers than general readers, but also highlights a number of confounding variables that future studies should address.
