| summary | This course will deal with the role of compositionality within linguistic
communication. It will cover the standard arguments for compositionality
and the role of communication in justifying the claim that natural
language has compositional semantics. Within this setting, we will discuss
computability and complexity issues, and how semantics interfaces with
pragmatic factors in cases where we have semantic or pragmatic context
dependence. |
