summaryIn the last few years, dendrites have become a focus of intense research - with the understanding that many of the “secrets” of brain operations  “hide” in the fine intricacies of the dendritic tree. In particular, dendrites implement a variety of plasticity processes, branch-specific computations, sophisticated input-output operations, input classification and more. Many of the secrets hidden within the dendritic intricacies are rapidly unfolding as a result of the development of novel optical, molecular, anatomical and theoretical approaches. We therefore felt that it is high-time to invite the top team worldwide that is interested in dendrites in order to explore and discuss together: “what’s next with dendrites”? We hope to achieve two main goals in this meeting. 1- Update ourselves on the “dendritic state of the art” via 60 minute talks by each of the participants and what are the most urgent questions regarding the role of dendrites. 2- How computational models may help answering these questions.
