| summary | Children are, from birth, immersed in a complex social environment, including relations, situations and common norms. The first goal of this presentation is to explore the abilities underlying 3 yr-olds' anticipation of others' behavior; these abilities cannot originate in their modest capacity to read others' minds. In the course of these social interactions, children are also exposed to information communicated to them by others. Our second goal will be to show how the expectations they have about the social world allow them to "filter" these testimonies, in order to increase their knowledge and to decrease the risks of acquiring false beliefs. |
